On Misty

Misty was a horse I bought from a friend I worked with at the lumberyard/sawmill in Delta. She was just a young filly which I trained and she was really a great horse. The hay we raised was sold each year to the Rodeo company that came to Delta annually. On the other side of the hay was a corral I built with logs from down out of the mountains near Cedaredge.

Across from the corral was a chicken coup I built out of slabs brought home from the sawmill/lumberyard where I worked.

The sawmill was owned by the Jones family and they had made a discovery of dinasaur bones on Dry Mesa about 26 miles southwest of Delta. Their finding was a large toe bone belonging to the genus Torvosaurus tanneri, and it started paleontology students from BYU, excavating Dry Mesa for over 20 years, from 1972-2000 under the direction of respected paleontologist Dr. Jim Jensen
